Max Bloomfield's dream of owning a business specializing in dinnerware became a reality when Bloomfield's first opened its doors on Memorial Day of 1976. Max, an experienced businessman, believed in providing his customers with quality products at a great price. Although he passed away only a year after opening, his vision was carried out by his wife Jean, and his son, Peter. Both Jean and Peter worked hard to make the store all that Max knew it could be.
Through the years, Bloomfields has evolved and grown in many ways. Under Peter's direction the store has become a unique collection of many items including glassware, kitchen gadgets, lamps, and gifts. When Peter married in 1985, the store changed even more. His wife, Carol, added lines such as April Cornell clothing and several bath and body lines.
Today Peter and Carol have a family of their own (3 sons!) and are constantly searching for new and interesting merchandise to pass along to their customers. As Bloomfield's of Flat Rock prepares for the future with the addition of a website, a new color catalog, and building expansion, we will also remember to look to the past and remember Max Bloomfield's promise of quality, price, and customer service.
We invite you to come to the original Bloomfield's of Flat Rock near Hendersonville, N.C., but if you can't, we will bring what we can to you on this website. Feel free to contact us with any questions you may have. We're here for you!
